Metallography Services
Uncovering a metal's character, its heat treatment condition, its microstructure, the process by which it was formed, and whether it conforms to necessary specifications, requires metallurgical analysis. The laboratory's metallurgical engineers and technicians combine their chemical and metallurgical expertise to deliver rapid and accurate analyses.

Additionally, the metallurgical staff performs micro and macro examinations to detect, identify, and resolve specification issues.

Microstructure Evaluations: Grain size determination, Inclusion Rating, Decarburization Depth, Case Depth, Nodularity, heat treatment condition, porosity measurement, micro structural constituents and Volume Fraction; Plating Evaluation and Plating thickness.

Photographic Documentation: Image Processing System on Hi-Tech metallurgical microscopes like Olympus. Stereo Microscope from Carl Zeiss, Germany is used for metal analysis and failure case studies.

Why Failure Analysis?
Any engineering material can fail in any number of ways, including inadequate design allowances, improper manufacturing techniques, or service conditions that exceed design margins. Failures are generally costly, not only in terms of repair, but also in terms of downtime and the increased engineering support required to prevent future failures.

In-House Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) using computer controlled furnace to relieve residual stresses in material is available. All SR cycles can be set and desired Heat Treatment can be obtained on the material. We regularly perform SR and HT cycles on number of Metal samples prior to Testing as instructed by our clients.

Positive Material Identification (PMI)
Portable XRF Spectrometer capable of measuring chemical composition of material is used for PMI service. Elemental identification & quantitative evaluation of material irrespective of size or shape without damaging the sample is carried out by experienced technicians at Subodh. Foundries, Fabricators, Stock yards, power plant, refineries, electronic equipment manufacture & chemical process plants are major users of PMI.

Subodh Technologists uses best in Class handheld XRF spectrometer X-Sort from SPECTRO, Germany.
